The History of Cupping Massage (Dry Cupping)
Cupping is one of the oldest therapies in the world. It is described in the Ebers Papyrus of ancient Egypt (around 1550 BC) and was practised in ancient China and Greece.
Cupping (known as hijama in its wet form) also has a long history in the Islamic and Middle Eastern world. Interest in dry cupping surged globally after athletes at the 2016 Rio Olympics were seen with circular cupping marks.
